FCC Cuts Fine For WGSR

The FCC reduced a fine by $19,500 for RJM Communications, licensee of WGSR(AM), Kalamazoo, Mich., for failure to maintain a presence at its main studio, operation in excess of authorized nighttime operating power, and failure to make station WGSR(AM)’s public inspection file available. The station was originally fined $21,000 last July. RJM didn’t challenge the violations, but cited an inability to pay in its request for the penalty to be reduced or rescinded. After reviewing RJM’s tax returns for the past three years, the commission lowered the penalty to $1,500.
