Austrian private station Antenne Voralberg expanded its streaming options with the help of Betty, an AI-voiced DJ powered by Radio.Cloud.
Dance Radio KI Inside, the first fully AI-controlled station in Austria, launched with a New Year’s Eve special and has since then has aired a range of dance and deep house music.
“Betty never gets tired, can search through huge amounts of data and offer creative solutions in a split second. These capabilities could be invaluable, particularly at unmoderated times, such as at night, when it comes to providing real-time traffic reports,” according to the station’s announcement.
Betty provides background information, along with regional weather information for Voralberg. As the tool evolves, it will start providing promotion of upcoming songs. It is also being trained to speak with an Austrian accent, according to Antenne Voralberg Managing Director Mario Mally.
“For us, AI radio is a fantastic experiment that benefits the whole team in learning about the technology. It’s definitely not about replacing presenters or creatives, but about finding out in a practical way how AI can support a regional team full of audio enthusiasts in their daily work by further expanding the quality of our products,” Mally stated.
“Dance Radio KI Inside is already the fifth fully automated AI program or station created with our software. All those stations have in common the fact that no one intervenes manually on the local end,” stated Radio.Cloud CEO and Founder Christian Brenner.
Brenner noted that Radio.Cloud technology also powers DAB channel Radio Lozärn in Luzern, Switzerland, and its DJ, Mike.
Roger Givel, the founder and owner of Radio Lozärn, stated, “Integrating AI into our radio workflows is a step into the future, and we look forward to the fresh perspectives Mike will bring to our team and listeners. It also highlights our commitment to innovation and opens up new possibilities for audience interaction.”
