VAB Names Snyder-Teffner Award Honoree

Radio/TV engineer Tymecki also has some on-air credits

BURLINGTON, Vt.�Broadcast engineerJoe Tymeckiwill receive the Snyder-Teffner Award at theVermont Association of Broadcasters�Hall of Fame Banquet.

The VAB says the honor recognizes �those who have demonstrated a career of excellence behind the scenes� and is named for Hall Communications engineer and VAB Treasurer Dennis Snyder and the late WCAX(TV) engineer and VAB President Ted Teffner.

Tymecki currently serves as chief technology officer and director of engineering for Vermont Public Radio.

He previously served as chief engineer for Sison Broadcasting and WCAX(TV), and as engineering supervisor and CTO for Vermont PBS. Tymecki also served as engineering manager for TBS and Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta and as director of engineering design and integration for The Weather Channel.

His career has also included on-air radio work at WWPV(FM) Colchester, WVTC(FM) Randolph Center, WCFR, WVMT(AM) Burlington and WXXX(FM) Colchester.

Tymecki�s community involvement includes volunteer work as the Technical Committee Chair of the Mount Mansfield Colocation Corp., member of both the Vermont Department of Public Safety�s Amber Alert and EAS committees and is the former national chairman of the PBS Enterprise Technology Advisory Committee.

�It�s hard to think of someone more deserving of this award than Joe Tymecki,� said VAB Executive Director Jim Condon. �He is a true public servant who has dedicated countless hours helping broadcasters be prepared for emergency situations and helping to improve the Amber Alert program.�

The Hall of Fame banquet will be held Dec. 5 at the Hilton in Burlington.
