Tel-Aviv – Nov 1, 2011 – Digital radio software and systems on a chip developer EtherWaves has released a new version of its ClearSignal software-based DAB/DMB software. This version executes on Linux-based operating systems, such as those used for automotive In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI), mobile devices and tablet computers.
Adding this digital radio capability requires an appropriate digital tuner, such as Maxim’s MAX217x, and executing ClearSignal software on the existing processor with GENIVI or Android operating system. Porting the same DAB/DMB capability to another processor is a straightforward task, due to ClearSignal RF-agnostic design.
The new version implements all the digital radio broadcasting standards supported by ClearSignal – DAB, DAB+, T-DMB and DRM, and it follows the new trend of the industry in general and automotive in particular to use software rather than hardware-defined ‘infotainment systems.’
