'Toast' Is in Surround Again; Show to Originate in New Orleans

Sennheiser said several of its products will be part of NPR’s “Toast of the Nation.” Organizers said the event includes the first live nationally broadcast music program from New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. The New Orleans portion of New Year’s Eve “Toast of the Nation” will be broadcast in 5.1 surround sound; it will be hosted from Tipitina’s Uptown nightclub.
Sennheiser and Neumann are among the vendors contributing various pieces of gear to the broadcasts.
“Toast of the Nation” is being hosted outside Washington for the first time. The show is a co-production by NPR and WBGO(FM) of Newark, N.J., along with the Tipitina’s Foundation, which helps artists recover and preserve that city’s cultural traditions.
The broadcast also include highlights from Washington; Boston; Sanibel Island, Fla.; New York; Columbia, Mo.; and Portland, Ore.
