Listeners to Philly station WXPN will be able to order a calendar as part of its holiday membership drive.
What’s unusual about the calendar is that it features what the station calls its “now-infamous” list of the “885 all-time greatest songs,” which were voted on by 4,400 listeners in October.
“During the first week in October, WXPN suspended its regular programming from 6am to 11pm each weekday to play a countdown of the list,” it stated. “Listener tune-in reached an all-time high, both on the radio and online, while results of the countdown sparked public debate and published commentary.”
The noncom station – which airs on 88.5 in Philadelphia – is on the Web at www.xpn.org.
