As of Dec. 31, the FCC listed 13,660 licensed full-power radio stations and 675 low-power FMs. That compares to 13,599 full-power radio stations and 598 LPFMs three months earlier.
The overall gain in the latest quarter is mostly in FMs: 6,231 FM commercial stations are on the air and 2,672 noncoms are now licensed. The AM total is about the same as in the previous quarter, with 4,757 stations licensed.
