A New Radio President for Salem

Santrella replaces Davis, who becomes special adviser to Atsinger

Salem Communications has made several management moves, saying it wants to be more responsive to a changing media environment.

Joe Davis, president of the radio division, now becomes senior advisor to CEO Edward G. Atsinger III, working on special projects and strategic development. His tasks include content development for the company’s Christian teaching and talk stations and helping Salem ministry clients “improve the yield from their media ministries.”

David Santrella takes the job as president of radio. Atsinger commended Santrella for his “fresh perspective and … high level of energy and creativity” in addition to his sales and management experience. Santrella began with Salem in 2001 as GM in Chicago, later added Milwaukee to his portfolio and eventually was given responsibility for Minneapolis, Denver and Colorado Springs.

Allen Power also is promoted to senior vice president with oversight of New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Three station GMs were upped to operational VPs: Mike Moran in Atlanta, Russ Whitnah in Philadelphia and Brian Taylor in Denver.

The changes take effect Jan. 1.
