ABA Releases 2014 Engineering Academy Schedule

Radio and TV tracks planned along with specials on HD and IP

The Alabama Broadcasters Association has released its 2014 ABA Engineering Academy schedule.

These week-long, free courses are aimed at beginners though the experienced can attend as well.

The radio tracks are Feb. 10–14 and July 14–18 while the TV tracks are March 3–7 and Sept. 8–12. All classes are held at the ABA’s training center in Hoover, Ala. SBE certification exams are offered at the end of each course (for a fee).

Larry Wilkins, your Academy Director, and the ABA crew are also planning several special two-day seminars: “Fundamentals of HD Radio,” “Fundamentals of HDTV,” “IP Fundamentals for Broadcast Engineering” and “Audio and Television over IP.” Dates for those are TBD.

Wilkins said, “This program was started two years ago by the Alabama Broadcasters Association to help develop new engineers for the industry. A good number of the 135 students that have attended were already in broadcasting just not in the technical side (board operators, production, master control etc.). We have been surprised at the interest in the Academy and are continuing to improve and expand the classes.”
