Australia’s ABC Radio is paying tribute to the life and work of Nelson Mandela, who died Thursday Nov. 5 at the age of 95.
“Remembering Nelson Mandela 1918–2013 on ABC Extra,” features nearly three hours of content from the ABC archives, including speeches, interviews, memories and musical tributes.
The pop up station is available on ABC Extra on digital radio and via the ABC Radio app. Launching today, the program will be repeated over the course of the weekend until approximately 6 a.m. Monday.
Highlights include Marius Benson’s 1994 interview with Mandela; Margaret Throsby’s interview with Mac Maharaj, who was a fellow prisoner and confident of Mandela; and Waleed Aly’s interview with former diplomat Bruce Haigh, who gives an Australian perspecitive of South Africa during the after apartheid.
