And the iPad Stampede Begins …

Media companies issuing apps for the new gizmo include CBS, NPR and Pandora

To absolutely no one’s surprise, the iPad apps parade has begun.

CBS Interactive Music Group announced the availability of an app, Radio.com. The app provides an interface for hundreds of Internet radio stations from the CBS Radio stable and Yahoo! Music. It also provides access to the Last.fm music site.

Not to be outdone by a corporate radio leviathan, the public radio leviathan NPR has an iPad app ready to go as well. The NPR App, complete with its own dedicated, iPad-optimized Web site, promises a “magazine-style presentation” for users and features that will make use of the iPad’s touchscreen functionality. Naturally, an audio feed will be accessible and it is free.

For Pandorans (users of the Internet music service, not the denizens of the planet in “Avatar”), an iPad app is also available.
