Radio transmitter operator Norkring has announced plans to bring a DAB+ network on the air in Brussels. If this moves forward, there would be a trial beginning with two commercial radio stations based in the Belgian capital city in order to gauge interest.
Public broadcasters VRT, RTBF and BRF have been broadcasting on DAB, while RTBF is also testing DAB+ channels.
According to Media Magazine, Norkring would contribute 70 percent of the cost as part of an early adopter program for stations interested in DAB+.
Norkring bought the Belgian DAB+ license and issued a call for interest in 2013. Commercial broadcaster Top Radio has indicated interest, according to a Norking spokesperson.
