Brussels Will Get DAB+ This Spring

Norkring Belgium will bring digital radio to EU capital, surrounding region

DAB+ coverage in Brussels and surrounding areas will be a priority this spring as Norkring Belgium, the DAB licensee in the region, moves to expand coverage in the country.

Six stations will be launched: Top Radio, VBRO Radio, Radio Maria, Radio FG, Radio Stad and Family Radio, and 16 channels in total will be on the air, when combined with those offered by public broadcasters VRT and RTBF.

Norkring Belgium will utilize its cell tower network, which will be responsible for the distribution of the digital signal.

“DAB + is not the future, DAB + is now,” said Norkring Belgium CEO Bart Bosmans. “This new technology also offers numerous other opportunities, such as better traffic, sending additional dates and slideshows.”

Norkring Belgium has owned the transmitter site in Flanders and Brussels since 2009, when the organization also obtained the licenses for offering a television and radio broadcasting network and the related digital frequency packages.
