Aiir and PlayoutONE to Merge

It's digital solutions and radio automation rolled into one

Aiir and PlayoutONE have entered into a merger agreement that will soon combine their online digital solutions and automation services for radio stations. Aiir Inc. is based in New York; PlayoutONE in the U.K.

Aiir offers online services to the worldwide radio industry, including websites, mobile apps and its listener interaction dashboard “Studio Inbox.” Everything is managed using its fully-hosted CMS platform.

PlayoutONE specializes in radio automation software as well as streaming and smart assistant skills. The company is mostly known for its WebVT (remote voice tracking) service, which allows station talent to both record shows and broadcast live from anywhere.

Together, company officials said the partnership will create a “new, super-focused broadcast media technology business” called Aiir Group Inc., which will be based in the U.S. The merger is expected to be completed by Jan. 1, 2023.

In a press release, Ricki Lee, Aiir CEO, said, “Our two companies have been working together for a number of years. Earlier this year we decided that bringing our businesses, products and people together made a lot of sense; for us, and for our customers.”

Dave Brierley-Jones, PlayoutONE CEO, echoed Lee’s statement.

“There’s no overlap in our current product offerings, but they’re clearly complimentary. We’ll shortly be announcing a brand new ‘world first’ product for the radio industry that we’ve been working on together for the past few years.”

Following the merger, Lee will become the CEO of Aiir Group, with Brierley-Jones acting as his COO.
