The FCC has dismissed a low-power FM timeshare application in Boulder City, Nev.
Faith Christian Church filed its application during the December 2023 LPFM window, and it was the tentative selectee in a mutually exclusive group. It was to operate in a timeshare with Mi TV, an applicant based in Henderson.
However, Albert Adam David filed an informal objection, pointing out that the signee of Faith’s application, Karlo Maalouf, is not listed as an officer. David believed the application should be dismissed as a result. He has filed multiple objections to FCC applications in the past.
The FCC’s “Signature Rule” requires that applications filed by a corporation be signed by an officer. Maalouf is identified on the application as a “tech.”
The Media Bureau accordingly dismissed the Faith Christian Church application. It said any application that does not comply with the Signature Rule at the time it was filed “cannot be amended to correct this deficiency.”
For Mi TV, this dismissal means it is granted a construction permit to operate full-time on 106.9 FM from Henderson, running 100 watts ERP. In its application, Mi TV says it will operate bilingually to introduce listeners who are new to the U.S. to the English language. Its executive director, Leonardo Gutierrez, is the director of Mi Televisión Clasica, which airs classic family TV series, according to its website.
