Telos Alliance Names Scott Stiefel as CEO

Tom Swidarski becomes vice chairman of the board

Telos Alliance said that Scott Stiefel, who has been sharing its CEO role for the past year, is now CEO.

“Now running the day-to-day operations of the company, Stiefel will assume the reins from Co-CEO Tom Swidarski, who will serve on the board of directors as vice chairman and will remain a critical part of the senior leadership team,” the company said in its announcement.

“Telos Alliance Founder Frank Foti remains chairman of the board and continues to lead the Omnia development at the highest level.”

Swidarski joined Telos in 2018 from Diebold, a business software and systems developer; he also serves on the board of several other public and privately held companies, according to his LinkedIn page. Foti thanked Swidarski for the “the tremendous guidance” he had provided to Stiefel.

Stiefel began his career at Telos in 1994 designing the ISDN card for the Telos Zephyr. He worked on the hardware and DSP code for Omnia.FM and Audioactive Encoder products before becoming a project manager on the Zephyr Xstream and, later, operations manager for Telos.

For six years he was with ViaSat Inc., working on high-speed satellite and terrestrial communication systems and ASICs, then returned to Telos in 2014 as its COO. In early 2022 he was named co-CEO with Swidarski.

He holds a BS and MS in electrical engineering as well as an MBA, all from Case Western Reserve University.

“Despite the challenges associated with the pandemic and supply chain headwinds, Scott, along with all of our executive leadership team, have achieved one of the most successful years in the history of the company,” Telos Alliance said in the announcement.

Stiefel said he was looking forward to leading the company “as we expand into the world of software and enterprise systems, platforms and professional services and to continue expanding our world-class hardware offerings.”

Telos Alliance began with  Telos Systems, which was founded in in 1985 by Steve Church. It has since grown to add or acquire Axia Audio, Omnia Audio, 25-Seven Systems, Linear Acoustic and Minnetonka Audio Software.
