West Virginia FM Told to Pay Back Fees or Risk License

The FCC has put WTNJ on notice

The FCC has ordered an FM licensee in West Virginia to pay delinquent fees and penalties, or risk losing its license.

The commission sent an “order to pay or show cause” to West Virginia Broadcasting Inc., the licensee of WTNJ(FM).

It said the station currently owns about $11,700 in unpaid debt for fiscal 2013 through 2015.

The commission can yank a license in such circumstances and said it is starting that process. It gave the company 60 days to pay or explain why the payment should be waived or deferred.

The country-formatted station broadcasts with 4.4 kW on 105.9 MHz in Mount Hope and has a translator in Beckley.
