Opera is getting airtime on the satellite.
Looking for new outlets for a brand familiar to generations of weekend opera listeners, the Metropolitan Opera is debuting a radio channel on Sirius, kicking off with a live broadcast of its opening night performance of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”
The commercial-free channel will broadcast live performances each week throughout the Met’s season, in addition to archival performances.
