CBS Radio has promoted Jeff Sottolano to vice president of programming.
“Jeff has made significant contributions to our content platform, not just over the air, but also to our strong digital and live event assets,” Executive Vice President of Programming Chris Oliviero announced in a press release. “With today’s announcement, he will now be better positioned to take a leadership role as we continue to craft our growth strategy, one which is squarely founded on CBS Radio’s best in class brands.”
According to the announcement he will work with local market leadership to identify programming opportunities and develop strategies to improve station ratings performance. Sottolano will contribute to the division’s research efforts, including acting as a liaison with Nielsen and other research and data partners.
Sottolano will also work with Senior Vice President of Programming and Music Initiatives Michael Martin and Director of Music Initiatives Chad Fitzsimmons on the execution of live events, as well as collaborate with CBS Local Digital Media to further audience engagement and further enhance OTA content and brands online and via mobile platforms.
Sottolano most recently served as the company’s director of programming, a position he has held since January 2014.
Sottolano joined CBS Radio in 2001 as an intern for WZNE(FM) in Rochester, N.Y., and he was then named the station’s promotions director in 2002, promoted to program director/on-air personality in 2004. Two years later, he moved to WYSP(FM) in Philadelphia where he assumed a variety of programming and marketing roles, including working as program director in 2008. He worked as program director for CBS Radio Philadelphia station WIP(FM) from 2011–2014 and aided in the station’s transition from AM to FM.
