CCB Believes Some 10,000 LPFM Applications Filed at FCC

Organization offers post-filing services

Christian Community Broadcasters believes as many as 10,000 applications have been filed with the FCC for new low-power FMs.

The LPFM consultants developed a formula to arrive at that figure.

The amount is notable because most applicants, like educational organization, were limited to one application each. The figure is anecdotal as the FCC hasn’t released totals.

CCB says it will offer a range of post-filing services, such as moves to resolve competing situations, technical and administrative changes, time-share negotiations, and sale of LPFM broadcast equipment to applicants who receive a Construction Permit. “We are not ‘arm-chair advisors’ — we own and operate our own LPFM,” says CCB co-founder John Broomall.

The FCC could begin issuing CPs for unopposed frequencies in January, believes the organization.
