A format switch in Washington is gaining attention; noncommercial WETA(FM) and group owner Bonneville, with a cluster in the nation’s capital, came to an agreement that keeps the classical format alive in the city.
Bonneville dropped classical to switch to a George format at the old WGMS, while WETA restores its own classical format, which it had dropped for news in 2005. Bonneville also donated its music library to WETA, as The Washington Post reports.
