Some 2012 Camry and Prius vehicles are featuring Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio, as part of Toyota’s Premium HDD Navigation with Entune multimedia system.
Toyota earlier had said iHeartRadio would be available on certain Entune-equipped models, as RW reported. Entune also includes access to platforms like XM Radio as well as HD Radio.
Integration in Entune will allow those drivers to access iHeartRadio content (broadcast radio streams and digital-only stations, celebrity-hosted channels, local traffic reports and other customized content).
The Entune system uses the driver’s smartphone to connect the content to the car; it’s compatible with iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices. Once a smartphone is connected using Bluetooth or USB cable, Entune’s features are operated using the vehicle’s controls or, for some services, by voice recognition.
The announcement was made by Brian Lakamp, president of Clear Channel Digital, and Jon Bucci, VP of advanced technology for Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.
