Clear Channel Launches Net Service

Clear Channel Wireless, a division of Clear Channel Communications, will provide a high-speed Internet service via digital television stations. The service, Delta V, allows the user to keep their current e-mail address and ISP, while adding high-speed download capability to their account. The service is provided through digital television signals and is translated in the users computer through a PCI card, antenna and proprietary software.
Clear Channel will offer the Delta V service first in Cincinnati area, the company’s beta test market for the service, to be followed by a national rollout next year. The service will be targeted to Internet customers in areas who do not receive broadband service. The service is expected to cost about $40 per month. A small antenna and software required for Delta V will be installed by Clear Channel.
