WAMZ(FM) of Clear Channel’s Louisville cluster says longtime PD and afternoon personality, Coyote Calhoun, will end his day-to-day radio career at the end of the year after 35 years. Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Providence also announced Doug Palmieri has been named program director for WHJY(FM) in Providence, R.I.

Calhoun has been with WAMZ for over three decades, and beginning in 2015, he will serve as a community ambassador for the station, appearing at special events for the station.

WAMZ will soon announce a series of events commemorating his career.

“I have loved every minute at 97.5 WAMZ, especially spending time with the thousands of listeners I’ve met over the years,” said Calhoun.

As Program Director Palmieri will oversee all aspects of programming for rock-formatted WHJY(FM). He will transition into this position from his previous role as director of imaging. From 1999–2005 he served as the evening on-air host, assistant program director and imaging director at WHJY. Then, until 2007, he served as the station’s creative services director. After a stint in Boston he returned to WHJY in March 2013 as director of production/imaging until this promotion.

“My first on-air gig was at 94 HJY, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to program a station with such an amazing history and heritage,” said Palmieri.

Clear Channel Louisville comprises WAMZ, WHAS(AM), WQMF(FM), WNRW(FM), WKJK(AM), WKRD(AM), WTFX(FM), WLGX(FM); and Clear Channel Providence owns and operates WHJY, WSNE(FM), WWBB(FM) and WHJJ(AM).
