Listeners to DAB will be able to listen to digital radio stations using an iPod.
Frontier Silicon, working with Roberts Radio, developed a DAB/FM plug-in accessory based on a Frontier DAB IC. It connects to an iPod, enabling users to listen to DAB or FM radio or to use it as a remote control to play, pause, fast-forward or rewind music stored on an iPod.
Roberts will launch the product in October in time for the holiday season.
Frontier’s CEO called this the smallest and lowest power DAB radio available. The company is hoping this will “bring a new generation of listeners to DAB radio and greatly increase the penetration of DAB across Europe.”
