Digigram has released a new licensing policy for its patent-pending EtherSound technology, which creates low-latency audio networks using standard Ethernet cabling and components and is designed to connect digital audio sources to networked audio devices.
The company says the policy makes it easier and cheaper for pro audio manufacturers to integrate the technology into their products. Under the new rules, access is given to reference design and manufacturing files for integration of EtherSound in manufacturer’s products. Royalty rates for licensees are pegged to decrease based on the number of products sold, resulting in lower per unit rates for multichannel devices.
