The new head of Jefferson-Pilot’s 18-station radio division has more than 20 years with the company. Don Benson succeeds Clarke R. Brown Jr., who is retiring.
Benson was senior VP of operations and programming. He started with the firm in 1974 at WQXI(AM/FM) in Atlanta and is a former VP of operations at KIIS(FM) in Los Angeles. He subsequently was an exec for Western Cities Broadcasting and consulting firm Burkhart/Douglas & Associates, and came back to JP 11 years ago.
He’ll report to Terry Stone, president of Jefferson-Pilot Communications.
