The Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium and Indonesia public broadcaster RRI have announced a planned demonstration of DRM and how it works for local coverage in Batam, Indonesia.
As part of the demonstration, one of the existing local FM frequencies and transmitters will be upgraded to DRM mode, offering digital radio benefits like improved audio, multimedia features, strong coverage and efficient energy use.
After the update, participants will have the opportunity to board an equipped vehicle to hear how DRM performs and analyze the results to determine the next steps of a digital radio DRM rollout in Indonesia.
Participants in the demonstration will include international digital radio experts, RRI experts, broadcast authorities, and industry and commercial broadcasters. This demonstration follows previous RRI demonstrations of DRM in the AM bands in Bangor (2015) and Bali (2016).
The DRM demonstration is taking place from May 16–18.
