Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) is taking part in the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) General Conference in Glasgow, Scotland May 11–14. The CBA is the largest global association of public service broadcasters.
This year the biennial international forum is focusing on the place of music in broadcasting and will cover issues such as copyright, music policy as well as the debate around the use of new platforms for accessing and sharing music.
During the event, DRM Consortium Chair, Ruxandra Obreja, is making a presentation entitled “Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) — The Best Sound of Music,” where she demonstrates the high sound quality and improved listener experience provided by digital radio.
The gathering, which is hosted by BBC Scotland in Glasgow and takes place ahead of the Commonwealth Games to be held in the city this summer, also gives DRM an opportunity to update participants on the latest DRM developments and the benefits of the technology.
DRM also announced that the CBA would partner with the Consortium in promoting the yearly DRM Enterprise Award. This year the award will go to a nominated individual or company within the Pacific Islands Region. The purpose of this award is to encourage the take-up of DRM in the region, explains the Consortium.
