BE says Entercom Communications ordered 14 HD Radio transmission systems to expand HD Radio into five more markets.
The purchases include Broadcast Electronics transmitters for five stations in Portland; five in Kansas City; two in Indianapolis; and two in Denver.
Transmitters included in the new order consist of seven high-powered FMi 703 models as well as lower-powered FMi 402, FMi 301, FMi 106 and FMi 73 with associated equipment.
The company declined to release the value of the contract. The BE FMi 703 retails for $95,500, so the retail value of those seven units alone is $668,500.
John Abdnour, BE’s natioanl accounts manager, noted the supplier’s past relationship with Entercom and said, “This order represents a commitment by both companies to lead in the HD Radio rollout.”
