Electronics Research Inc. and USA Digital Radio are working together to develop FM combiners and filters compatible with USADR’s in-band, on-channel digital audio broadcasting system.
The compatible combiners will provide broadcasters with a cost-effective option to convert to digital by combining the signal of a lower-power digital transmitter with the analog signal of a station’s existing transmitter, the companies said.
With the addition of ERI, USADR is working with 15 transmission equipment manufacturers to develop IBOC-compatible gear.
