Euro 2008 Radio Planned

With a mix of tourist information, match-day atmosphere and music from the homelands of Euro 2008 competitors, Radio 11 will bring the "Rhythm of Football" to the airwaves of Switzerland for the UEFA championship.

With a mix of tourist information, match-day atmosphere and music from the homelands of Euro 2008 competitors, Radio 11 will bring the “Rhythm of Football” to the airwaves of Switzerland for the UEFA championship.

The station goes live in Zürich, Berne, Basel and Geneva in early June for the start of Euro 2008, but it plans to launch online broadcasts within the next fortnight.

“We will focus on the music, lifestyle and atmosphere of the tournament and report on what is happening around the games,” Radio 11 Program Director Andrej Voina told swissinfo.

While the station will not provide match commentary, it will offer reports from fan zones outside the stadiums, as well as analysis and commentary from football experts.

The musical program for Radio 11 will also be heavily influenced by which teams are playing on a given day. The main languages of presentation will be English, French and German, but other languages will be heard, again depending upon which teams have a match on any given day.
