FCC Fines Fox $1.2 Million

The FCC proposed a total of nearly $1.2 million in broadcast indecency fines against 169 Fox Television Network affiliates, including TVT License Inc., licensee of Station WTVT, Tampa, Fla. for apparently airing indecent material during an April 7, 2003 episode of the “Married By America” program. The commission proposed a $7,000 penalty for each station that ran the program. The agency said episode, which aired before the 10 p.m. indecency safe harbor, involved depictions of sexual activity and was patently offensive.
