FCC Gave LPFM Applicants a Few More Hours

New deadline was moved to Friday afternoon

The FCC extended the filing window for low-power FM applicants by a day. The new deadline was moved to Friday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m. Eastern.

Consultants told Radio World the agency’s electronic filing system was “crashing,” Thursday due to the volume of applications filed before the deadline. The FCC recognized the problems with its Consolidated Database System “briefly prevented or delayed some potential applicants from filing” the Form 318 applications.

The original deadline was Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Eastern. The agency said the extension was designed to ensure that all applicants were able to complete and timely file applications.
