The FCC pulled the media ownership item off the agenda of its public meeting at the last minute. A spokesman said the commissioners were still discussing aspects of it, such as details about how many public hearings to hold related to ownership.
Depending on when the commissioners agree about the item to start the ball rolling on all aspects of media ownership, including the radio ownership limits, the definition of a radio market and the ban on one entity owning a station and a newspaper in the same market, the commissioners could either vote on the item privately or at the next public meeting, now slated for Aug. 4. A spokesman told RW Online the chairman would make that decision.
