Florida Pirate Ham Charged

Florida Pirate Ham Charged

A Florida man has been arrested for illegally operating a ham radio station. The FCC said its investigation led to the arrest of William Flippo of Jupiter, Fla.
Responding to numerous interference complaints from ham operators, the FCC reviewed the case and fined Flippo $20,000 for operating an unlicensed station on amateur frequencies.
Flippo, the commission said, did not stop the broadcasts and that’s why he’s been arrested and his equipment seized with help from the U.S. Marshals Service. He’s been charged with 4 counts of operating an unlicensed station and 4 counts of interfering with licensed stations.
If convicted, he could receive a year in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
