On the RF front at NAB, Nautel has a new model FM1, 1kW broadband FM amplifier.
It requires 3 units of rack space. Four amplifier pallets are operated in parallel. “Should one fail, the remaining amplifiers continue working to keep the signal on-air at reduced power,” the company stated.
Features include two DC ventilation fans, switch mode power supply and selectable linear mode operation to accommodate hybrid FM/IBOC transmission using common amplification or fully digital IBOC transmission for separate amplification.
The first unit went on the air in March in Nova Scotia, Nautel said.
