Was at center of many consumer and pro audio/video technologies of the 1970s–2000s

Koyo Yokoi is a name not many people would recognize but audio aficionados and professionals saw the results of his work.

Yokoi worked for tape maker TDK, eventually retiring as ending as EVP sales and marketing in 2007 after a 25+–year tour with the company.

Over those years he led sales and marketing initiatives for new recording format introductions including open reel master audio recording tape, SA audio cassettes, VHS video cassettes, recordable Blu-ray, DVD and CDs, as well as Medical Grade DICOM-compatible CD and DVD recording systems.

He built industry partnerships with major retailers such as Costco, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Tower Records and others.

In the 1980s and 1990s TDK tapes were commonly used by consumer electronics enthusiasts and professionals in the audio and video industries.
