During its press conference here at CES, executives of the major radio groups said they plan to market HD Radio in their local communities.
Now, Ibiquity reveals it has hired a veteran of the CE sales world to oversee a nationwide retail program supporting the digital rollout.
As vice president of retail business development, Bernie Sapienza will coordinate efforts with manufacturing sales/training teams, distribution channels and retailers to promote the sale of HD Radio receivers, with an initial focus on markets with several stations broadcasting both a digital and analog signal.
Prior to Ibiquity, Sapienza spent 14 years with Tweeter Home Entertainment Group.
Ibiquity President/CEO Robert Struble called the move part of the company’s evolution from an engineering to a marketing-based company.
Also from the show floor here at CES, Ibiquity Digital and RF technology manufacturer ACE Technology have signed a license agreement. ACE has begun developing RF modules for HD Radio receivers.
