In its marketing, Fraunhofer promotes the HE-AAC v2 and HD-AAC codecs for their audio quality and compression efficiency.
While HE-AAC v2 is popular for bandwidth-constrained online streaming applications, the new HD-AAC boasts lossless audio quality to boot.
The newest versions of Winamp and Shoutcast include Fraunhofer’s HE-AAC v2 codec, while future versions will come with the more powerful HD-AAC codec.
