Geodesic is using miRoamer’s Internet radio platform for its Mundu Radio application, which enables users to listen to Internet radio on mobile phones.
miRoamer and Geodesic said wireless carriers would benefit from the Mundu Radio app as well, as it offers them a way to drive average revenue per user through increased data and SMS use.
Geodesic provides mobile and desktop software for instant messaging, VoIP and Internet radio while the miRoamer Internet Radio software can be installed in various consumer electronic products, including car radios, smart phones, gaming consoles and audio-visual equipment from televisions to home stereo systems.
Mundu Radio is Internet radio software for mobile phones, PDA and Pocket PC handsets that offers consumers access to miRoamer’s “tens of thousands” Internet radio stations, according to the supplier.
Device manufacturers install Mundu Radio on the handset; the app allows users to select and playback streams from existing Internet radio stations and manages their personalization for the user. Geodesic’s Mundu Radio is available for some 100 handsets based on J2ME, Symbian Series 60, Windows Mobile and Palm OS platforms.
