Global Security Systems ordered 200 FMB80 RDS encoders from WorldCast Systems’ radio signal equipment division Audemat. The RDS encoders have been used for the expansion of GSS’ Common Alerting Protocol and FM-based mass emergency notification service Alert FM in the United States, Asia and Latin America.

Audemat’s FMB80 is already incorporated into the Alert FM network, so this order will enable expansion of coverage to over 500 installations and 750 users.

“We have used Audemat’s FMB80 as the RDS platform coupled with our Alert FM software to field our text-based alert system since the beginning our nationwide rollout started over four years ago,” said GSS Executive Vice President Matthew Straeb.

Global Security Systems operates a nationwide CAP/EAS audio and text-based alert system that enables mass notifications. This alert and messaging system enables emergency management officials to create and send digital and audio alerts and messages to first responders, school officials, businesses and citizens based on geographic or organizational groupings. Emergency information is delivered via the data subcarrier of FM radio stations using the Audemat RDS encoders, as well as SMS and email.

Audemat’s RDS Encoders and the GSS Alert FM system will be demonstrated at the WorldCast Systems’ Booth C2546 at the NAB Show in Las Vegas.
