Groups Propose Multilingual EAS

Three groups are arguing that EAS needs to be multilingual.
The Independent Spanish Broadcasters Association, the United Church of Christ and the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council believe multilingual messaging should be included in any changes to the EAS system the FCC might make to analog and digital service providers. In comments to the EAS docket, EB 04-296, the groups said where technically feasible, the commission should also incorporate multilingual EAS messaging in the development of any alert and warning system deployed on other technologies.
