Harris Notes U.K. Server Application

Harris said Chrysalis Radio, a commercial network in the U.K., has migrated an all-E1 star network to a hybrid E1/IP-based multi-protocol label switching platform via an upgrade to its Harris Intraplex CrossConnect Server.
The server combines E1 multiplexing and cross-connect capabilities. Harris said the change will improve Chrysalis’ ability to manage network traffic between a network hub in London and broadcast sites in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham.
“The Chrysalis move to hybrid switching reduces transmission costs with the bonus of being able to prioritize radio programming over other IP data,” it stated. The server was upgraed with a Intraplex IntraLink-IP streaming multiplexer.
Bruce Davidson is group technical director of Chrysalis Radio.
