Ibiquity Digital technology partners Texas Instruments, Phillips, Kenwood, JVC and Panasonic will show HD Radio product at the Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas. Planned are demos of 5.1 surround sound and NPR’s Tomorrow Radio project, a Supplemental Audio Programming service that will allow stations to simultaneously broadcast two separate digital programs on the same channel.
Alpine, Delphi, Fujitsu/Eclipse, Harman Kardon, JVC, Kenwood, Onkyo, Panasonic, Sanyo and Visteon will be show a variety of HD Radio receivers, some to be commercially available in 2004. Simultaneously, the very first HD Radio tuner – a Kenwood KTC-HR100 – will hit store shelves with stations in 100+ markets in January.
