VoiceBox said it will integrate IBM speech recognition software into its VoiceBox Navigator conversational voice search platform.
The company said the technologies will let users navigate and control information from mobile devices with conversational dialogue. Applications include searching for music and entertainment, asking for driving directions or making a phone call.
XM Satellite Radio is the first user; the application allows drivers to search and control XM channels, raise and lower the volume or ask for traffic reports, stock quotes, sports and weather by talking to an XM radio.
IBM and VoiceBox expect to make their technologies available to automakers and the aftermarket later this year.
Additionally, VoiceBox reached an agreement to combine their speech recognition software with conversational voice search platform with Johnson Controls’ BlueConnect wireless mobile technology.
