IHeartMedia Announces Changes at WHTZ

Also Don Parker adds responsibilities for Sacramento

IHeartMedia says Sharon Dastur will join its National Programming Platforms team as senior vice president of programming integration and that Mark Medina has been named PD for WHTZ(FM), Z100, filling Dastur’s vacancy.

Dastur most recently served as program director for New York’s Z100 and Nick Radio, Nickelodeon’s digital-only station on iHeartRadio, and the New York cluster.

According to a release, in her newly created position, Dastur will create programs that utilize the company’s assets for brands and partners and will assist with the program execution with artist, managers and labels. She will develop cross promotion partnerships between label groups and agencies, and in addition she will work with in-market programmers. She will also work together with the artist relations team on booking and talent negotiations for all iHeartRadio national events and industry events.

Dastur also previously served as national CHR brand coordinator, advising CHR stations across the country.

Medina will join Z100 after programming CHR stations throughout the country, including WIHT(FM) in Washington and WZFT(FM) in Baltimore. His programming experience also includes KZZP(FM) and KNIX(FM) in Phoenix and KRQQ(MF) in Tucson. He will also continue to be part of iHeartMedia’s talent development coaching team, where he has helped to develop and coach talent including The Kane Show, Toby Knapp and Johnjay & Rich.

The company also announced that Don Parker will serve as its new VP of programming for Sacramento as well as retaining duties in San Francisco.

In addition to overseeing programming for the six San Francisco radio stations, Parker will now oversee five stations in Sacramento. He began with iHeartMedia in 2009 as the operations manager for the San Francisco cluster. Prior to that, he served as a programming consultant and program director for KNGY(FM), vice president of programming for Next Media and PD in the Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Las Vegas and Fresno, Calif., markets.

IHeartMedia New York owns and operates WAXQ(FM), WHTZ(FM), WKTU(FM), WLTW(FM), WWPR(FM) and WOR(AM). IHeartMedia San Francisco operates KIOI(FM), KISQ(FM), KKSF(AM), KMEL(FM), KOSF(FM) and KYLD(FM). IHeartMedia Sacramento operates KBEB(FM), KQIK(FM), KHYL(FM), KSTE(AM) and KFBK(AM).
