Journal Radio Reports 6.4% Revenue Increase in May

Journal Communications, Inc. reported May total revenues for its publishing and broadcast groups of $40.2 million, saying the figures were essentially flat compared to $40.2 million reported for May of 2004. For the fifth period 2005, advertising revenues of $34.1 million were essentially flat compared to $33.9 million for the 2004 fifth period. Both periods contained 28 days.
Total revenue at the company’s radio and television stations was $13.5 million, including the $0.8 million contribution of the Green Bay television operations, was essentially flat. This compares to total revenue of $13.5 million reported for May 2004.
Total radio group revenue was $6.7 million, an increase of 4.6% compared to $6.4 million.
Total television group revenue decreased 3.8% to $6.8 million, including the $0.8 million contribution from the Green Bay operations. This compares to revenue of $7.1 million reported for May 2004.
Journal owns 38 radio stations and seven television stations in 11 states and operates an additional television station under a LMA.
