The program centers on a $15 instant rebate, in-store demo of the receiver and alliance stations creating awareness of the Kenwood brand and driving traffic to its dealers.

The CD receiver has an HD Radio tuner, USB port, aux input and 13-digit display; it features a dedicated iTunes Tagging button. Mixed preset tuning allows FM and AM stations to be preset on the same preset band. The unit lists for $220.

HD Radio Alliance President Peter Ferrara said the KDC-HD548U is one of the best-selling HD Radio receivers; he said the partnership should result in incremental sales volume of HD Radio products.

The 700 or so alliance member stations will participate with a web and national radio advertising campaign, airing spots to promote the KDC-HD548U while highlighting HD Radio technology along with the rebate; it will be offered through Sept. 4 at participating Kenwood retailers. Consumers will be encouraged to visit the websites of Kenwood USA or HD Radio for more details.

Kenwood USA Consumer Electronics exec Keith Lehmann characterizes the HD Radio performance of the model as “remarkable and easy to demonstrate in-store.”
