Latvian public-service broadcaster Latvijas Radio has received International Standardization and Accreditation Services BC-9001:2003 certification for its media quality management systems.
Based on the ISO 9001 certification, the ISAS BC is a quality-management standard specially developed for electronic media by Media and Society Foundation, a Swiss organization set up by international media professionals, with the aim of setting benchmarks for best practices in terms of public service.
An ISAS BC-compliant quality management system is one that efficiently improves performance and constitutes a refined mechanism with which to identify the requirements of the audience and general public.
In addition, it assists in focusing on corporate strategic goals and the implementation of a public broadcasting mission.
The ISAS BC-9001:2003 certification initiates continuing self-assessment and improvement by the certified company of its quality management system.
The standard has been published in Arabic, English, Farsi, French and Spanish.
